    These metal disc-spring couplings with ultra-high torsional stiffness were developed for servo motor applications. The disc-spring method provides excellent properties: firmness in the torsional direction but flexibility in the bending, step-difference, and axial directions. The disc spring that serves as the element has an unbeatable theoretically derived shape that is the result of rigorous analysis with the latest finite element method. These couplings are available in a full line-up for many different applications. Compact and lightweight SFC models use high-strength aluminum alloy for the hub material. SFS models, which use carbon steel for the body material, come in many different variations. And the SFM and SFF models were developed for main and feed shafts of machine tools.

They are also shaped so that the flange covers the periphery of the disc spring with few raised or lowered surfaces to minimize whistling during high speed rotation.

    STEPFLEX couplings for servo stepping motors that boast high damping performance. Our newly developed laminated rubber element (HNBR) achieves high damping and low reaction force. These couplings absorb vibration faster than flexible couplings that use metal in their elastic components. This suppresses the resonance phenomenon that can occur with stepping motors.

    These couplings have simpler designs that sandwich a rubber buffer (nitrile rubber) between two hubs. The hub is lightweight, being made of aluminum alloy. The simple construction sandwiches a spider (rubber buffer) between hubs, so the coupling is easily mounted or removed by moving the device in the axial direction. Mounting on a shaft is easy. Simply hold a straight-edge to the hub periphery to center it.

    4.     Miki Pulley STARFLEX Couplings – Khớp nối STARFLEX

    The simple construction of these couplings sandwiches a buffer piece called an element (made of polyurethane elastomer) between two hubs. Elements of two different hardnesses are available so you can select the appropriate one for your torque transmission responsiveness and amount of misalignment. The polyurethane elastomer used in the element enables double the torque transmission of our previous jaw coupling (Miki comparison), and since the design pre-compresses the element, it can also be used without backlash. Aluminum alloy is used as the hub material. The hub may be coupled to the shaft either by key or by clamp.

    These are rigid couplings with ultra-high torsional stiffness that were developed for servo motor applications. Unlike flexible couplings, they have no element to absorb differences between the centers of the two shafts, so they have very high torsional stiffness. Since the outer diameter relative to torque can be reduced compared to flexible couplings, smaller couplings can be used, which helps reduce the moment of inertia.

    These couplings connect a hub that mounts on the shaft to another hub, separated by a metal coil. They achieve excellent flexibility, compact size, and high torque. There are three models: BAUMANN MINI FLEX, which has a relatively small rated torque, BAUMANNFLEX MM, which couples one shaft to another, and BAUMANNFLEX MF, which couples shafts to flanges and the like.

    BAUMANNFLEX ZG/LM Models - Our line-up includes the relatively low nominal torque of the ZG and LM models, which have excellent flexibility.The long type of the LM model (the LM-1 type) allows a particularly large angle of deflection of up to 14°. The ZG model uses a zinc alloy as the hub material and spring-steel square wire for the coil spring; the LM model uses an aluminum alloy as the hub material and stainless-steel round wire for the coil spring.

    These are pin-bushing type couplings whose bodies are made of aluminum alloy. Backlash is kept extremely low by making the torsional stiffness of all components very high and combining high-precision pins with dry metal. A universal system is used for hub coupling, which makes shaft reaction force due to mounting misalignment extremely small. There is also a damping effect from sliding at the friction surface between the pin and dry metal. A clamp system employing friction is used to mount the coupling on the shaft, making mounting easy. PARAFLEX comes in both CPU models that allow angles of deflection up to 4°and inexpensive CPE models that allow angles of deflection up to 1°.

    When transmitting power between shafts with different centers, which have traditionally been constituted of a spline shaft and a universal joint, Schmidt couplings can be used to efficiently transmit power in a compact form factor. Schmidt couplings are couplings with different shaft centers that use the crank motion of a link. Power input at one end disc is transmitted via a link and center disc to another end disc. The amount of displacement of the shaft center is determined by the length of the link, so not only is it possible to transmit power between different shaft centers, translation of shaft centers during rotation is possible as well.

    Non-contact coupling which transmits torque firmly by magnetic force

    A coupling is a mechanical element part that connects two shafts together to accurately transmit the power from the drive side to the driven side while absorbing the mounting error (misalignment), etc. of the two shafts.

     

    Coupling in the machine industry is interpreted as "a part that connects two shafts together", and is generally called "coupling", "shaft coupling" or "joint".

    Power can be transmitted by using a coupling, even between axes of different diameters as shown in the following figures.

      The role of a coupling (shaft fitting)

     

    The role of a coupling is mainly as follows.

     

    ·       Power is transmitted from the driving side (turning side) to the driven side (turned side).

    ·       Absorbs mounting errors between the axes of the driving side (turning side) and the driven side (turning side).

    ·       Absorbs vibration from the driving side (turning side) and protects surrounding products.

    ·       Does not transfer heat from the motor on the drive side (turning side), etc. to the driven side (turned side).

     

    1.     Transmit power

    The primary reason for using a coupling is to connect the drive shaft to the driven shaft.

    It is difficult to manufacture a machine connected with one-piece shaft instead of using a coupling. It creates problems in terms of cost and accuracy, but also transportation and assembly are very difficult, so it takes extra man-hour.

    Also, in the case of one-piece shaft, it must be replaced in its entirety, if either the drive side or the driven side is broken.

    2.Absorb misalignment

    It takes a considerable amount of time to align the drive shaft to the driven shaft with high precision.

    If the axes of two shafts are misaligned, an extra force is repeatedly applied to the surrounding parts as it rotates, which causes vibration and noise.

    In addition, even though the same parts are used to manufacture units, there are errors such as machining accuracy, so it is very difficult to assemble every unit with accuracy, because the dimensions are different one by one.

    Therefore, a coupling should be used to absorb such mounting errors.

    Coupling has the role of transmitting power dynamically and accurately even if there is a misalignment (eccentricity / declination angle, axial displacement, etc.) between the two shafts.

    3.Absorb vibrations to protect surrounding products

    Vibration and shock may be transferred to surrounding parts when using the machine.

    For example, if the vibration of a motor, etc. in the driving side is transmitted to the ball screw, etc., it deviates the machine from the prescribed position and it is impossible to make the good use of the machine’s performance.

    Also, if a machine with no coupling receives an impact from the outside, the impact may be transmitted directly to the motor and may cause damage to the motor.

    A coupling is the solution to this problem. It absorbs vibration in order to move the driven side with high accuracy, and/or shock to prevent expensive motors, etc. from damaging.

    4.Do not transfer the heat of the motor, etc. to the driven side.

    A motor generates a lot of heat when it is used.

    When it is transmitted to the driven side, the ball screw, etc. expand by heat and the length will be changed.

    As a result, the positioning accuracy is affected, and the expected machine precision will be not realized.

    However, by using a coupling, it is possible to prevent the heat transfer of the motor, etc. so that the parts will not be deformed or shifted from its correct position.

    As explained so far, the necessity to use couplings varies depending on the application and situation.

    Couplings can provide multiple performances such as absorption of mounting errors (flexibility), high positioning accuracy (high rigidity), contribution to higher accuracy and longer service life by absorbing vibration and blocking of heat transfer.

    There are many kinds of couplings.

    It is necessary to understand what kind of features are available and what kind of application they will be suitable, and then select an appropriate coupling suitable for the intended use.

    These are mechanical shaft locks that use tapers. The wedging action of the taper surface when the clamping bolt is locked thoroughly couples the shaft and hub. The POSI-LOCK line-up includes the PSL-K (which has a collar and a small inside-to-outside ratio useful in making smaller diameter components), the PSL-G (which is highly compatible with non-Miki products), and the PSL-D (which has a medium-weight design, low surface pressure, and enables smaller and lighter mounts). Each is available in a simple anti-rust specification that uses electroless nickel plating as well as a stainless steel specification.

    These are electromagnetic-actuated clutches that transmit torque by engaging teeth. Since torque is transmitted by engaging teeth, these clutches can transmit very high torque with a compact size. These clutches may be either full position, which engage everywhere around their circumference, or single position, which connect to a set position and engage only in one location per revolution. The shape of the tooth tip may be either symmetrical or sawtooth. Symmetrical tips can be used in any rotation direction, while sawtooth tips are faster than symmetrical tips and can connect at higher speeds.
